Today’s match was on the Cunneries old canal, to which a very hard match took place with some shocking weights Future member Ste Boland who joined in today from previous club, Dog and Partridge controlled the match with a 24lb 2oz bag off peg 16. Steve is looking to become a full member of ERB next season and walked away with a £50 purse. Well done Steve. Second place went to Gary Thomas with 22lb 12oz off peg 18. Third place was Paul Smith with 17lb 9oz off peg 13well done to all the winners. Besides from this, I (Colin) had a terrible match today on the Cunneries, and it made me think what I was doing wrong, couldn’t use the usual excesses like too cold, water to shallow, ducks in swim, pegging too close. So after a long hard think I could only come up with this:- Went over to far bank fishing in 3ft of water using expander and feeding tightly with micros. Got a bit of movement then bang float shot under lifted into it and it bolted ripping elastic out and half straightening hook. Shocked at this I put a new hook length on, and fed again just about to go back in when bubbles erupted in my swim, and a white frothy substance came up. It then happened Neptune came out of the water and warned me to leave his fish alone, feared for my life I cut my hook off and just kept feeding them instead, I did manage to get a few pictures for evidence and I’m sending to the papers. Anyone thinking of fishing the Old canal at the Cunneries be warned.
